Feeding animals and humans better means making a commitment, through our know-how, to nutrition that respects natural balances.
The late 90s saw the emergence of the “better eating” movement, with consumers increasingly questioning the content of their plates, which had become industrialized and impoverished in previous decades.
In 1999, in this context and with the aim of contributing to a more nutritionally dense diet, Valorex demonstrated, through zootechnical studies and a clinical study, that the omega 3s present in meadow grass could be transmitted and assimilated by humans via animals.
Good animal nutrition practices produce high-quality animal products (eggs, milk, meat, etc.) high in bioavailable omega-3, essential for human health.
In 2000, the Bleu-Blanc-Coeur association was created to facilitate access to these high omega 3 foods throughout France, and the logo quickly gained notoriety.
In 2002, the Valorex group formulated and produced mainly feed for farm animals, high in omega 3, for the benefit of both the animals’ health and that of the humans who consume them.
The idea was born to develop a flour based on flaxseed, THE seed with the highest omega 3 content, so that humans could benefit from it without going through the animal chain: Linette was born!
Initially produced on the animal nutrition line, with the constraints that this implied, the need to build a dedicated plant soon became apparent in view of the growing volumes.
To meet demand, a plant dedicated entirely to human nutrition was built, 100m from the animal feed production plant, at Combourtillé (35) in Brittany.
Inaugurated in June 2010, the structure is named “VAIZGANTHO”, the Samogitian god of hemp and flax.
This plant, dedicated to human nutrition, also serves as a pilot research and innovation facility for Valorex animal nutrition. Thanks to its small size, tests are carried out regularly, as in the Proleval project.
At the same time, Vaizgantho is structuring itself, growing, and obtaining quality certifications such as BRC and organic.
In addition to their nutritional richness, particularly in omega 3, oil-protein seeds have many other outstanding properties: texturizing, emulsifying, water retention…
The first nutri-functional ingredients are developed. Vaizgantho becomes Valorex Food for simplicity.
To consolidate its industrial base, Valorex Food has invested in a modern, multi-purpose production line that meets the stringent requirements of the food industry. The plant renovation serves several purposes:
At the same time, Valorex Food is moving towards FSSC 22000 certification.
Our commitment: to formulate tomorrow’s nutrition in a world increasingly concerned with the origin and quality of its food.
Within the food division, our mission is to unlock the potential of oilseeds, such as flax and faba beans, by formulating ingredients for a healthier, more transparent and natural diet.
Valorex Food puts innovation at the heart of its development. We are convinced that the solutions to better feed humans and animals are to be found in the natural world around us, and that all we have to do is unveil them.
